Meeting ice breakers
Meeting ice breakers! Here are some fun and creative ideas to help your team get to know each other:
Classic Ice Breakers
- Two Truths and a Lie: Each person shares two true statements and one false statement about themselves. The others have to guess which one is the lie.
- Human Bingo: Create bingo cards with different traits, characteristics, or interests (e.g., "has traveled to another country," "speaks more than one language," etc.). Each person needs to find someone who fits each of the characteristics and get them to sign the corresponding square.
- The Name Game: Have each person introduce themselves and share a unique fact about themselves that starts with the same letter as their name (e.g., "I'm Sarah, and I love sailing").
Creative Ice Breakers
- Scavenger Hunt: Create a list of items or challenges that require team members to interact with each other (e.g., "find someone who has the same favorite book as you" or "take a photo with someone who has the same birthday as you").
- Word Association Game: Have each person write down a word on a piece of paper, fold it up, and pass it to the person on their right. Then, each person takes a turn saying a word associated with the word they received.
- Would You Rather: Present two difficult choices and ask each person which one they would prefer (e.g., "would you rather be able to fly or be able to breathe underwater?").
Fun and Quirky Ice Breakers
- Show and Tell: Ask each person to bring an object that represents something about themselves (e.g., a favorite hobby, a memento from a trip, etc.). Then, have each person explain the significance of the object.
- The Human Knot: Have each person stand in a circle and put their hands in the center. Each person should grab the hand of someone across from them, not next to them. Then, they need to work together to untangle themselves without letting go of each other's hands.
- Karaoke Contest: Choose a popular song and have each person sing a few lines. Then, have the others vote on their favorite performance.
Virtual Ice Breakers
- Virtual Scavenger Hunt: Create a list of items or challenges that require team members to interact with each other online (e.g., "find someone who has the same favorite TV show as you" or "take a screenshot of someone's desktop background").
- Online Would You Rather: Use a virtual whiteboard or chat platform to present two difficult choices and ask each person which one they would prefer.
- Virtual Show and Tell: Ask each person to share a fun fact or interesting story about themselves, and then have the others ask follow-up questions.
Remember to keep your ice breaker activities short, fun, and engaging. The goal is to help your team get to know each other and build connections, not to overwhelm or bore them!
