MAPoly Students Protest Delay in Semester Examination
Students of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPoly), Abeokuta, have taken to the streets to protest the delay in the conduct of their semester examination.
The students, who were seen carrying placards with inscriptions such as "Examination Delay is Unacceptable", "We Want to Write Our Exam", and "MAPoly, Listen to Our Plea", marched from the institution's main gate to the office of the Rector, Professor Samuel Sojowoe.
The students, who were visibly frustrated and angry, claimed that the delay in the examination was causing them undue hardship and uncertainty about their academic future.
According to them, the semester examination was supposed to commence on Monday, but the management of the institution had yet to provide a new date for the examination.
"We are tired of the excuses and delays. We want to write our examination and complete our academic programme. We are not asking for too much, just a fair and timely examination," said one of the protesting students.
The students also accused the management of the institution of being insensitive to their plight, saying that they had been suffering in silence for too long.
"We have been patient, but we can't take it anymore. We are calling on the management to take immediate action to resolve this issue," said another student.
The protest, which was peaceful, was monitored by security personnel from the institution and the Nigeria Police Force.
The management of MAPoly has yet to comment on the protest, but sources close to the institution said that efforts were being made to resolve the issue and ensure that the examination is conducted as soon as possible.
The students have vowed to continue their protest until their demands are met, and are calling on the government and other stakeholders to intervene in the matter.
