Macedonia new name
You're referring to the country formerly known as the Republic of Macedonia!
In 2019, the country officially changed its name to the Republic of North Macedonia (Република Северна Македонија in Macedonian). This change was made to resolve a long-standing naming dispute with Greece, which had objected to the use of the name "Macedonia" due to its own region of Macedonia.
The name change was a result of a referendum held in September 2018, in which a majority of Macedonian citizens voted in favor of the name change. The new name is intended to reflect the country's geographical location in the northern part of the Balkan Peninsula, while also acknowledging the historical and cultural heritage of the region.
So, from now on, the country is officially known as the Republic of North Macedonia!
