Lagos to experience 240 days of rain in 2020
I think there may be some misinformation here!
According to the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET), Lagos, Nigeria typically experiences a tropical savanna climate with a rainy season that lasts from April to October, with the heaviest rainfall occurring in July and August.
While it's true that Lagos can experience heavy rainfall during the rainy season, it's highly unlikely that the city would experience 240 days of rain in a year. In fact, the average annual rainfall in Lagos is around 1,900 mm (75 inches), with most of it falling during the rainy season.
In 2020, Lagos did experience a relatively wet year, with some areas receiving above-average rainfall. However, even in the wettest months, the rainfall is typically not continuous, and there are usually dry days in between.
To put this into perspective, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) defines a "rainy day" as a day with at least 1 mm (0.04 inches) of rainfall. Based on this definition, it's unlikely that Lagos would experience 240 days of rain in a year, as that would be equivalent to almost 7 months of continuous rain!
So, while Lagos can certainly experience heavy rainfall, it's not likely to experience 240 days of rain in a year.
