Lagos Assembly Urges Ambode to Clamp Down on Fake Job Advertisers

The Lagos State House of Assembly has urged Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to take immediate action to clamp down on fake job advertisers in the state. The call was made during a plenary session on Tuesday, following a motion moved by the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Culture and Tourism, Hon. Tunde Braimoh.

According to Braimoh, the proliferation of fake job advertisements in the state has led to the suffering of many job seekers, who are being duped of their hard-earned money. He noted that the situation has also led to a loss of confidence in the state's job market.

The lawmaker urged the governor to direct the relevant agencies, including the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, to investigate and prosecute those behind the fake job advertisements. He also called for the establishment of a special task force to monitor and regulate job advertisements in the state.

The Speaker of the House, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, commended Braimoh for bringing the matter to the attention of the House and urged the governor to take immediate action to address the issue.

The motion was unanimously adopted by the House, and a committee was set up to investigate the matter and report back to the House within two weeks.
