The management of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin has disclosed its engagement with about 180 security operatives to check security challenges in the school and ensure academic stability guaranteed.
This was made known by the rector of the institution, Moshood Elelu, on Thursday during the iftar lecture organised by the Polytechnic which is one of the events of the Ramadan season.
According to him, the operatives include those from the nation’s military service, police, Department of security service (DSS), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the local vigilante group.
Elelu said since the management engaged such a huge number of security agents, the institution had not suffered insecurity challenges as peace and tranquillity reigned high on the campus.
He explained further that such security-threatening activities as cultism and student unrest had not been heard of on the campus unlike before the new security arrangement was made.
He said the arrangement was well organized, the students cooperated with the security agents to always maintain security on the campus.
He explained that the arrangement apart from guaranteeing security on the campus also contributed to academic stability the school enjoys presently.
As a result of the stable academic calendar, the institution had been one of the most sought after by admission seeker.
Elelu is on his second term as the rector.
