Kano Assembly Calls for FG's Intervention in Banditry, Kidnapping

The Kano State House of Assembly has called on the Federal Government to intervene in the rising cases of banditry and kidnapping in the state.

The call was made during a plenary session on Tuesday, following a motion moved by the member representing Kano Municipal Constituency, Abdulrazak Abdulrahman.

Abdulrahman said that the situation had become unbearable, with many residents of the state living in fear of being attacked by bandits and kidnappers.

He said that the state government had been doing its best to contain the situation, but needed the support of the federal government to effectively tackle the problem.

The member representing Gwale Constituency, Abdulrazak Ibrahim, also spoke in support of the motion, saying that the situation was a serious concern that required urgent attention.

The Speaker of the House, Abdulaziz Gafasa, directed the House Committee on Security to investigate the matter and report back to the House.

The committee is expected to interface with the state government, security agencies, and other stakeholders to find a lasting solution to the problem.

The House also urged the state government to provide adequate security for residents of the state, particularly in areas prone to banditry and kidnapping.

The motion was adopted by the House, and the committee is expected to submit its report within two weeks.
