Kaduna proposes n189 9bn 2017 draft budget

According to reports, the Kaduna State Government has proposed a draft budget of N189.9 billion for the year 2017. This budget is a significant increase from the N143.4 billion budget proposed for 2016.

The proposed budget is aimed at addressing the state's infrastructure deficit, improving healthcare and education, and promoting economic development. The budget breakdown is as follows:

  1. Recurrent Expenditure: N83.4 billion (43.7% of the total budget)
  2. Capital Expenditure: N106.5 billion (56.3% of the total budget)

Some of the key areas of focus in the proposed budget include:

  1. Infrastructure development: N30 billion has been allocated for the construction of roads, bridges, and other infrastructure projects.
  2. Education: N24.5 billion has been allocated for the education sector, including the construction of new schools and the upgrade of existing ones.
  3. Healthcare: N15.5 billion has been allocated for the healthcare sector, including the construction of new hospitals and the upgrade of existing ones.
  4. Economic development: N10 billion has been allocated for the development of the state's economy, including the promotion of agriculture, industry, and tourism.

The proposed budget is subject to approval by the Kaduna State House of Assembly.
