John 16 good news bible

Here is John 16 from the Good News Bible:

16:1 "I have told you these things so that you won't be fooled by them. 2 They won't be able to come and say, 'I didn't sin. I didn't do anything wrong.' But the one who has the world's wealth will be thrown into the fire. 3 When the time comes, you will remember that I warned you. But you won't be able to come and say, 'I didn't know.'

4 "I didn't say these things to you from the beginning, because I was with you. 5 But now I am going to the one who sent me. None of you asks me, 'Where are you going?' 6 Because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your hearts. 7 But I will tell you the truth. It is better for you that I go away. If I don't go away, the Helper won't come to you. But if I go away, I will send the Helper to you.

8 "When the Helper comes, he will prove that the world is wrong about sin and about righteousness and about judgment. 9 The world is controlled by the evil one. 10 They don't know who the Father is or about me. 11 But you have known him, and you have known that I came from God. He sent me into the world.

12 "I told you these things while I was still with you. 13 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of everything I have said to you. 14 He will bring glory to me, because he will take from what is mine and tell it to you. 15 Everything the Father has is mine. That is why I said the Helper will take from what is mine and tell it to you.

16 "A little while longer and you won't see me. Then a little while longer and you will see me."
