Jesus brings good news
What a wonderful phrase! "Jesus brings good news" is a beautiful summary of the message of Christianity. In fact, the phrase "good news" is the literal translation of the Greek word "euangelion" (εὐαγγέλιον), which is used in the New Testament to describe the message of salvation through Jesus Christ.
In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus is described as proclaiming the good news of God's kingdom, saying, "The time has come. The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!" (Luke 9:11, NIV). This good news is not just a message of moral guidance or spiritual advice, but a declaration of God's love and redemption for humanity.
Through Jesus, God is offering forgiveness of sins, reconciliation with Himself, and eternal life to all people. This is the good news that Jesus brings:
- Forgiveness of sins: Jesus came to save us from our sins, not to condemn us. He took upon Himself the punishment for our sins, so that we might be set free from the guilt and shame of our mistakes.
- Reconciliation with God: Through Jesus, we can have a personal relationship with God, and experience His love, guidance, and presence in our lives.
- Eternal life: Jesus offers eternal life to all who believe in Him, a life that is free from the fear of death and the consequences of sin.
The good news of Jesus is not just a message of individual salvation, but also a message of hope and transformation for the world. As followers of Jesus, we are called to share this good news with others, and to be agents of change in our communities and the world.
So, let us rejoice in the good news that Jesus brings, and share it with others, that they might also experience the joy, peace, and hope that comes from knowing Jesus Christ.
