Japanese pm abe insists tokyo 2020 olympics to go ahead as planned
I think there may be some outdated information here.
Shinzo Abe, the former Prime Minister of Japan, stepped down from his position on September 16, 2019, and was succeeded by Yoshihide Suga. Therefore, it is not possible for Abe to insist on the Tokyo 2020 Olympics going ahead as planned, as he is no longer in office.
In fact, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Tokyo Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Tokyo 2020) have been working together to address the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the decision was made to postpone the Games to 2021.
The new dates for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics are July 23 to August 8, 2021, and the Paralympic Games will take place from August 24 to September 5, 2021. The decision to postpone the Games was made to ensure the safety and well-being of athletes, spectators, and the people of Japan.
So, while Abe may have been a strong supporter of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics during his time in office, it is no longer possible for him to insist on the Games going ahead as planned, as the decision has already been made to postpone them to 2021.
