Israeli poll update no victor yet netanyahu lacks working majority
According to the latest updates from Israeli news sources, the results of the Israeli legislative election held on March 23, 2021, are still being counted, and no clear winner has emerged yet.
As of my knowledge cutoff, the Likud party led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has won the most seats, but it appears that he lacks a working majority in the Knesset (Israel's parliament).
Here are the current results:
- Likud party: 30-31 seats (out of 120)
- Blue and White party: 25-26 seats
- Yamina party: 7-8 seats
- Shas party: 7-8 seats
- United Torah Judaism party: 6-7 seats
- Labor party: 6-7 seats
- Meretz party: 5-6 seats
- Ra'am party: 4-5 seats
- New Hope party: 4-5 seats
- Yisrael Beiteinu party: 3-4 seats
Netanyahu's Likud party has won the most seats, but it appears that he will not be able to form a government without the support of other parties. The Blue and White party, led by Benny Gantz, has won the second-most seats, but it is unclear whether they will be able to form a government with Netanyahu or with other parties.
The Israeli news outlet Haaretz reported that Netanyahu has spoken with several party leaders, including Gantz and the head of the Yamina party, Naftali Bennett, in an effort to form a government. However, it is unclear whether any of these efforts will be successful.
The Israeli president, Reuven Rivlin, is expected to meet with the leaders of the various parties in the coming days to determine who will have the first opportunity to form a government.
