Institute Urges Sanwo-Olu to Promote Vocational Training

Lagos, Nigeria - The Lagos State Institute of Education (LASIEC) has called on the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to prioritize the promotion of vocational training in the state.

The institute made the call during a stakeholders' meeting with the governor, where it emphasized the importance of vocational training in addressing the skills gap in the state's economy.

According to the institute's Director, Dr. Olamide Oladepo, vocational training is essential in equipping students with the skills needed to compete in the job market. "Vocational training is not just about teaching students a trade, it's about preparing them for the workforce and giving them the skills they need to succeed," she said.

The institute also highlighted the need for the state government to provide more resources and infrastructure to support vocational training programs. "We need more training centers, equipment, and instructors to deliver high-quality vocational training programs," Dr. Oladepo said.

The governor, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Education, Mr. Obafemi Tinubu, assured the institute that the state government is committed to promoting vocational training in the state. "We recognize the importance of vocational training in addressing the skills gap in our economy, and we are committed to providing the necessary support to make it a success," he said.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the state government, education stakeholders, and industry experts.
