Idris elba new bond

The rumors!

Yes, Idris Elba has been a popular choice among fans and bookmakers to play the next James Bond. In 2018, he even responded to the rumors, saying he'd be "honored" to play Bond, but also joked that he's "too old" for the role.

However, in 2020, Elba himself seemed to confirm that he's been approached for the role, saying in an interview with The Guardian: "I think I'd be a great Bond. I think I'd be a great Bond because I'm a bit of a Bond already. I'm a bit of a ladies' man, I'm a bit of a charmer, I'm a bit of a tough guy."

Elba has also been praised by many fans and critics for his potential to bring a fresh perspective to the role, being a black actor playing a character that has traditionally been white. He's also got the acting chops, having played complex characters in TV shows like "Luther" and movies like "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom".

But, as of now, there's no official confirmation from Eon Productions or the Bond franchise that Idris Elba will be the next Bond. The role is still up for grabs, and other actors like Tom Hiddleston, Richard Madden, and even Michael Fassbender have been rumored to be in the running.

What do you think? Would Idris Elba make a great Bond?
