Ibedc new electricity tariff
Ibedc (Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company) has recently announced a new electricity tariff, which is effective from January 1, 2022. The new tariff is designed to reflect the current economic realities and to ensure the sustainability of the electricity sector.

New Tariff Structure:
The new tariff structure is based on a multi-step approach, with different bands for different consumer categories. The bands are as follows:
- Band A: 0-50 units (N34.50/kWh)
- Band B: 51-100 units (N32.50/kWh)
- Band C: 101-200 units (N30.50/kWh)
- Band D: 201-500 units (N28.50/kWh)
- Band E: 501-1000 units (N26.50/kWh)
- Band F: Above 1000 units (N24.50/kWh)
New Tariff Rates:
The new tariff rates are as follows:
- Residential customers: N34.50/kWh (Band A)
- Commercial customers: N32.50/kWh (Band B)
- Industrial customers: N30.50/kWh (Band C)
- Large Industrial customers: N28.50/kWh (Band D)
- Power generation companies: N26.50/kWh (Band E)
- Transmission companies: N24.50/kWh (Band F)
Other Charges:
In addition to the new tariff rates, Ibedc has also introduced other charges, including:
- Service charge: N250 per month
- Estimated billing charge: N500 per month
- Metering charge: N5,000 per meter
- Meter rental charge: N1,000 per month
Payment Options:
Ibedc has also introduced various payment options, including:
- Cash payment at designated payment points
- Bank payment through designated banks
- Online payment through the Ibedc website
- Mobile payment through designated mobile payment platforms
Effective Date:
The new tariff is effective from January 1, 2022, and all customers are expected to pay the new rates from that date.
Notice Period:
Ibedc has given a 30-day notice period to all customers to adjust to the new tariff rates. Customers who have not paid their bills within the notice period will be disconnected.
