Nigeria’s first-rate sprinter, Blessing Okagbare-Ighoteguonor has qualified for the final of the Women’s Long Jump event of the World Championships.
Okagbare recorded a distance of 6.51m Wednesday night and held the 8th position on the log consisting of 12 athletes, who qualified for the final.
With her performance, Nigeria has qualified for the final in the first event of the competition.
She holds the record of a silver medalist at same event four years before and current performance could earn her two medals, making her the first athlete in the history of the World Championship to do so. Okagbare has the opportunity at the final on Friday to prove her worth.
Nigeria’s other representative, Esu Brume, could not make it to the final of the Women’s Long Jump event.
Brume, who is currently the Commonwealth champion, held the 17th position with a leap of 6.38m.
