How to enter new line in google sheets
In Google Sheets, you can enter a new line in a few ways:
- Press Enter: Simply press the Enter key on your keyboard to move to the next line.
- Use the Shift + Enter shortcut: Press the Shift key and the Enter key at the same time to insert a new line without moving to the next cell.
- Use the "Enter" button: In the formula bar, you can click the "Enter" button (looks like a downward arrow) to insert a new line.
- Use the "Shift + Return" shortcut: On a Mac, you can press Shift + Return to insert a new line. On a PC, you can press Shift + Enter.
- Use the "Line break" formula: You can use the formula
CHAR(10)
to insert a new line. For example, if you want to insert a new line in cell A1, you can enter=CHAR(10)
in cell A1.
Note: The CHAR(10)
formula will insert a new line only if you are in a text cell (e.g., a cell with a text format). If you are in a numerical cell, it will not work.
Also, if you want to insert a new line in a specific location, you can use the "Insert" menu > "Line break" option.
