He that is in christ is a new creature

What a powerful and transformative truth!

"Old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17, NKJV).

In this verse, the apostle Paul is emphasizing the radical change that takes place when someone becomes a follower of Jesus Christ. When we put our faith in Him, we are not just making a decision or signing up for a new program; we are experiencing a spiritual rebirth.

The phrase "he that is in Christ" refers to the believer who has placed their trust in Jesus as their Lord and Savior. When we are "in Christ," we are united with Him, and He is united with us. This union is not just a spiritual connection; it's a fundamental transformation that changes who we are at our very core.

The phrase "is a new creature" (or "new creation" in some translations) emphasizes the extent of this transformation. We are not just getting a fresh start or a new perspective; we are being recreated in the image of God (Colossians 3:10). Our old nature, with its sinful tendencies and limitations, is passing away, and a new nature, characterized by righteousness, holiness, and love, is emerging.

This new creation is not just a gradual process; it's a sudden and dramatic change that takes place the moment we trust in Christ. It's a change that is not limited to our behavior or our emotions; it's a change that affects our very essence.

As a new creation in Christ, we are no longer defined by our past mistakes, our fears, or our insecurities. We are no longer bound by the limitations of our old nature. We are free to live a new life, a life that is characterized by freedom, joy, and purpose.

So, what does this mean for us as believers? It means that we are not just trying to be good people or follow a set of rules; we are experiencing a radical transformation that is changing us from the inside out. It means that we are not just striving to be better; we are being remade in the image of God.

May we continue to rejoice in this amazing truth and live out the reality of our new creation in Christ!
