Greece elects first woman president
I think you may be mistaken!
Greece has not yet elected its first woman president. While there have been several female prime ministers in Greece, including Costas Simitis, Kostas Karamanlis, and Antonis Samaras, none of them have held the office of President.
However, in 2019, Katerina Sakellaropoulou was elected as the first female President of Greece, succeeding Prokopis Pavlopoulos. Sakellaropoulou, a judge and former vice-president of the Council of State, was elected by the Hellenic Parliament with a majority of 261 votes out of 300. She took office on March 13, 2020, and served until March 2023.
So, while Greece has not had a female president until now, it has taken a significant step forward in promoting gender equality and representation in its highest offices!
