Governors' Forum Commends Nigeria Customs for Job Well Done
Abuja, Nigeria - The Nigeria Governors' Forum has commended the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for its outstanding performance in the discharge of its duties, particularly in the area of revenue generation and trade facilitation.
The Forum, which is a platform for governors of the 36 states of the federation to discuss and address issues of common interest, made the commendation during its meeting held recently in Abuja.
In a statement issued after the meeting, the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, praised the NCS for its commitment to its mandate of collecting revenue and protecting the country's borders.
"We are impressed with the remarkable performance of the Nigeria Customs Service in the area of revenue generation. The Service has consistently exceeded its revenue targets, and this is a testament to its dedication and professionalism," Fayemi said.
The Forum also commended the NCS for its efforts in trade facilitation, particularly in the area of reducing the time and cost of doing business in the country. "The Service has implemented several initiatives aimed at simplifying the clearance process and reducing the burden on importers and exporters. These efforts have contributed significantly to the growth of the country's economy," Fayemi added.
The governors also commended the NCS for its role in the fight against smuggling and other forms of economic crimes. "The Service has been proactive in identifying and addressing these issues, and we appreciate its efforts in protecting the country's economy," Fayemi said.
The Nigeria Governors' Forum urged the NCS to continue to work hard to achieve its goals and to maintain its high level of performance. "We are confident that the Service will continue to play a critical role in the development of the country's economy, and we look forward to its continued success," Fayemi said.
