Kaduna State Governor, El-Rufai Presents N255 Billion 2019 Budget

Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has presented a budget of N255 billion for the 2019 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly.

The budget, which is titled "Budget of Consolidation and Recovery", is a 15.5% increase from the 2018 budget of N221 billion.

According to the governor, the budget is designed to consolidate the gains made in the past three years and to recover from the challenges faced by the state.

The budget breakdown shows that N143 billion will be spent on recurrent expenditure, while N112 billion will be spent on capital projects.

The governor said that the budget will focus on education, healthcare, infrastructure development, and agriculture, among other areas.

"We have made significant progress in the past three years, but we still have a lot to do to achieve our vision of making Kaduna State a model of development in Nigeria," El-Rufai said.

The governor also announced that the state government will continue to implement its policies aimed at reducing the cost of governance, including the reduction of the number of ministries from 17 to 13.

The budget is expected to be debated and passed by the State House of Assembly before the end of the year.
