Governor bello dissolves kogi local govt administrative teams
According to reports, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has dissolved the administrative teams of all the 21 local government areas in the state.
The dissolution, which took effect from March 1, 2023, is part of the governor's efforts to restructure and reorganize the local government administration in the state.
In a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Folashade Ayoade-Aiki, the governor directed all the dissolved administrative teams to hand over to the most senior officers in their respective councils.
The statement also announced that the governor would soon appoint new administrative heads for the local governments, who would be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the councils.
The dissolution of the administrative teams is seen as a move by the governor to address the challenges facing the local governments in the state, including poor infrastructure, inadequate funding, and corruption.
It is also expected to pave the way for the implementation of the governor's plans to reform the local government system in the state, which includes the establishment of a new local government law and the creation of a local government service commission.
The development is also seen as a way to give the governor's administration a fresh start and to inject new blood into the local government administration in the state.
It is worth noting that the dissolution of the administrative teams is a prerogative of the governor, and it is not uncommon for governors to dissolve local government administrative teams as part of their efforts to restructure and reorganize the local government system in their states.
