Here is a translation of the Good News (Gospel) in a Catholic edition:

Matthew 1:18-25

The birth of Jesus Christ was like this: After his mother, Mary, was engaged to Joseph, but before they were married, she was found to be pregnant from the Holy Spirit. Joseph, her husband, was a just man and did not want to expose her to public shame. He planned to divorce her quietly.

But an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, because the child she carries is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: "Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel," which means "God is with us."

When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took Mary as his wife. But he did not have relations with her until she gave birth to a son, and he named him Jesus.

Matthew 2:1-12

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod's reign, wise men from the East arrived in Jerusalem, asking, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him."

When King Herod heard this, he was troubled and called the wise men to his palace. He asked them, "What time did you see the star?" They replied, "The star appeared when we were born in the East. We have come to worship him."

Herod called the chief priests and the teachers of the law and asked them, "Where is the Messiah supposed to be born?" They replied, "In Bethlehem, according to the prophecy of Micah."

Then Herod called the wise men and asked them, "Go to Bethlehem and search for the child. When you find him, report back to me so that I too may go and worship him."

After they left, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, "Get up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you to return, because Herod is going to search for the child to kill him."

So Joseph got up, took the child and his mother, and went to Egypt. They stayed there until the death of Herod. This fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: "Out of Egypt I called my son."

When Herod realized that he had been outsmarted by the wise men, he became enraged. He ordered the massacre of all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the wise men.

Then what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled: "A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more."

Matthew 3:1-6

In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near."

This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah: "A voice of one calling in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.'"

John's clothes were made of camel's hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.

People went out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole region of the Jordan. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.

Matthew 4:12-17

When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he withdrew to Galilee. Leaving Nazareth, he went to live in Capernaum, which is by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali.

This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: "Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way to the sea, along the Jordan— Galilee of the Gentiles—the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned."

Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.

His reputation spread, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and those who were paralyzed, and he healed them.

Matthew 5:1-12

Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them.

"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who came before you."
