God is doing a new thing
What a powerful and exciting phrase! "God is doing a new thing" is a quote from Isaiah 43:19, which says:
"I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the cypress, and the acacia tree. I will bring forth the lily and put the pine alongside the river and the grass alongside the streams. Then all will know, from the least of them to the greatest, that I am the One who does these things—the One who calls you to the waters of Israel. And I will put the wilderness in bloom with lilies, and the desert with cedars. I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. This is what the Lord says—He who makes a way in the sea, a path through the mighty waters, who brings down princes and makes the rulers of the world powerless. Who stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and lays the foundations of the earth. Who makes the Levia-than leap like a calf, and the dragon flee like a sprouting plant. Who commands the Israelites to do this: Do not remember the former things, or consider the things of old. I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. The wild animals will celebrate and dance, and the trees will join in with their singing. For I am doing something new. Now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."
This passage is a beautiful declaration of God's power and ability to bring life and renewal to even the most barren and desolate places. It's a reminder that God is always at work, doing something new and exciting, and that He is capable of transforming even the most difficult situations.
When we say "God is doing a new thing," we're acknowledging that God is always at work, even when we can't see it or understand it. We're trusting that He is capable of bringing life and renewal to our own lives, and to the world around us. We're surrendering to His plans and purposes, and asking Him to reveal what He is doing in our lives.
This phrase can be a powerful declaration of faith, a reminder that God is always at work, and that He is capable of doing immeasurably more than we could ever ask or imagine.
