Gmail new version
You're referring to the new Gmail interface!
In October 2018, Google rolled out a major redesign of the Gmail interface, which introduced several new features and changes to the way the email service looks and works. Here are some of the key changes:
New Look and Feel
- A cleaner and more minimalist design
- A new navigation menu on the left-hand side, which replaces the traditional top menu bar
- A larger compose window and a new "Reply" button
New Features
- Snooze: Allows you to temporarily remove an email from your inbox and bring it back at a later time
- Nudges: Sends a reminder to the sender if you haven't received a response to an email
- Suggested replies: Offers pre-written responses to common emails, such as "Thanks for reaching out" or "I'll get back to you soon"
- Smart Reply: Suggests quick responses to emails, such as "Yes", "No", or "Maybe"
- Undo Send: Allows you to retract an email within a few seconds of sending it
- Confidential Mode: Enables you to send emails that can't be forwarded, copied, or printed
- Customizable labels: Allows you to create custom labels and colors for your emails
Other Changes
- Two-factor authentication: Now enabled by default for all Gmail users
- Improved search: Faster and more accurate search results
- New keyboard shortcuts: Allows you to quickly perform common actions, such as composing a new email or archiving a message
How to Get the New Gmail Interface
If you haven't already, you can opt-in to the new Gmail interface by following these steps:
- Log in to your Gmail account
- Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner
- Select "See all settings"
- Scroll down to the "General" tab
- Click on the "Try the new Gmail" button
Note that the new interface is optional, and you can still use the classic Gmail interface if you prefer.
