Five Civil Servants Suspended Over Alleged Fraud in Ondo

The Ondo State Government has suspended five civil servants over alleged fraud and financial impropriety in the state's Ministry of Finance.

The suspended officials are: Mr. Olusegun Adeyemi, a Director in the Ministry; Mr. Olamide Ogunleye, a Deputy Director; Mr. Olamide Ogunbiyi, an Assistant Director; Mr. Olamide Ogunleye, a Chief Accountant; and Mr. Olamide Ogunbiyi, a Senior Accountant.

According to a statement issued by the state government, the suspension was ordered by the Governor, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, following an investigation into allegations of fraud and financial impropriety against the officials.

The investigation, which was conducted by a committee set up by the government, found that the officials had engaged in various forms of financial misconduct, including misappropriation of funds, falsification of documents, and embezzlement of public funds.

The suspended officials are accused of diverting public funds meant for the payment of salaries and allowances of civil servants to personal accounts, as well as misappropriating funds meant for the execution of projects in the state.

The government has also ordered an audit of the Ministry of Finance to identify and recover any misappropriated funds.

The suspension of the officials is seen as a major step towards tackling corruption in the state's civil service and ensuring transparency and accountability in the management of public funds.
