First nigerian tests positive for covid 19

The first case of COVID-19 in Nigeria was confirmed on February 27, 2020. The patient was a 44-year-old Italian national who had traveled to Nigeria from Milan, Italy. He was admitted to the Infectious Disease Hospital in Lagos State, Nigeria, after presenting symptoms of fever, cough, and sore throat.

The patient was tested for COVID-19 at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) and the result came back positive. The Nigerian government immediately activated its emergency response plan and began contact tracing to identify anyone who may have come into contact with the patient.

The patient was isolated and treated at the hospital, and his condition was reported to be stable. The Nigerian government also took measures to prevent the spread of the virus, including increasing surveillance at ports of entry, enhancing infection prevention and control measures in healthcare facilities, and providing public education on COVID-19 prevention and control.

The confirmation of the first case of COVID-19 in Nigeria marked the beginning of the country's response to the pandemic, which has since been ongoing.
