Figma duplicate component to new instance
A question about Figma!
To duplicate a component to a new instance in Figma, you can follow these steps:
- Select the component you want to duplicate by clicking on it.
- Go to the "Components" panel on the left-hand side of the screen.
- Click on the three vertical dots next to the component's name and select "Duplicate" from the dropdown menu.
- In the "Duplicate Component" dialog box, choose whether you want to duplicate the component as a new instance or as a new component with a new name.
- If you choose to duplicate as a new instance, you can select the layer where you want to place the new instance. If you choose to duplicate as a new component, you can give the new component a new name.
- Click "Duplicate" to create the new instance or component.
Alternatively, you can also use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + D
(Windows) or Cmd + Shift + D
(Mac) to duplicate a component.
Note that when you duplicate a component, Figma will create a new instance of the component with the same properties and styles as the original component. If you want to make changes to the new instance, you can do so by editing the new instance separately from the original component.
