Ezekiel 47 1 12 new international version

Here is Ezekiel 47:1-12 in the New International Version (NIV):

47

1 Then the man brought me back to the entrance of the temple, and I saw water flowing from beneath the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was coming down from beneath the south side of the temple, south of the altar.

2 He then brought me out through the north gate and led me around the outside to the outer gate facing the east; and the water was flowing from the south side.

3 As the man went eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a thousand cubits and then led me through the water. It was ankle-deep, and he measured off another thousand cubits and led me through the water. It was knee-deep.

4 Again he measured off a thousand cubits and led me through the water. It was waist-deep. Once more he measured off a thousand cubits and led me through the water. It was deep enough to swim. He asked me, “Son of man, do you see this?”

5 Then he led me back to the bank of the river. When I arrived, I saw a vast number of trees on both banks of the river.

6 He said to me, “This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, where it enters the Dead Sea. When it empties into the sea, the salty water becomes fresh. Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows, and fish will abound in the Dead Sea as far as the mouth of the Jordan. The waters will become fresh; and everything will live where the river flows.

7 And it will come about when the Egyptians come to the gates of Gaza, the sun will set and they will be covered with darkness, and the Egyptians will stumble and fall. The Israelites will strike the Egyptians, and you will know that I am the Lord.

8 The Israelites will be my people, and I will be their God. Then they will know that I am the Lord their God, because I made them go into exile and brought them back to a place of peace and safety.

9 “This is what the Sovereign Lord says: ‘When I restore the fortunes of my people Israel, the nations will know that I am the Lord.’”

10 The man brought me back to the entrance of the temple, and I saw water flowing from beneath the threshold and going east (for the temple faced east). The water was coming down from beneath the south side of the temple, south of the altar.

11 Then the man brought me out through the north gate and led me around the outside to the outer gate facing the east; and the water was flowing from the south side.

12 He said to me, “This is the place where the priests will wash the offerings—the burnt offerings, the grain offerings and the sin offerings—they will wash their hands and feet so that they will not die. They will be a reminder of the people to the Israelites, and they will see that you are a law for them. Then they will not profane my holy name, but will acknowledge it; and the nations will know that I am the Lord, declares the Sovereign Lord.”
