Explorer browser opens new window how to shut it
The infamous "Explorer.exe" process!
When you open a new window in Internet Explorer (Explorer), it creates a new process called "Explorer.exe" in the background. This process is responsible for running the new window. If you want to close the new window, you can try the following methods:
Method 1: Close the window
- Click on the "X" button in the top-right corner of the new window to close it.
- Alternatively, you can press the "Alt + F4" keys on your keyboard to close the window.
Method 2: Close the Explorer process
- Press the "Ctrl + Shift + Esc" keys on your keyboard to open the Task Manager.
- In the Task Manager, click on the "Processes" tab.
- Look for the "Explorer.exe" process and click on it to select it.
- Click on the "End Task" button to close the process.
Method 3: Use the Windows Taskbar
- Click on the "Taskbar" and right-click on the "Explorer.exe" icon.
- Select "Close" or "Close all windows" to close the new window.
Method 4: Use the Windows Command Prompt
- Open the Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Type the following command and press Enter:
taskkill /im explorer.exe
- This will close all instances of the Explorer process, including the new window.
Remember that closing the Explorer process will also close all open windows and tabs in Internet Explorer. If you want to keep the other windows and tabs open, you can try closing the individual windows using Method 1 or Method 3 instead.
