Everytime i click something it opens a new tab
That can be frustrating!
There are a few possible reasons why this might be happening, and I'll walk you through some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the issue.
1. Browser settings: Check your browser settings to see if there's an option to open links in a new tab instead of a new window. Here's how:
- Google Chrome: Go to Settings (three vertical dots) > Settings > Advanced > System > Open a specific page or set of pages. Look for the "On startup" section and make sure "Open a specific page or set of pages" is selected. Then, click on the "Open a specific page or set of pages" dropdown menu and select "New tab" or "New window".
- Mozilla Firefox: Go to Options (three horizontal lines) > General > Startup. Look for the "When opening a new tab" dropdown menu and select "New tab" or "New window".
- Microsoft Edge: Go to Settings (three horizontal dots) > Advanced settings > System. Look for the "Open links in" dropdown menu and select "New tab" or "New window".
2. Browser extensions: Some browser extensions might be causing this issue. Try disabling all extensions and then re-enabling them one by one to see if the problem persists. You can do this by:
- Google Chrome: Go to Chrome Settings (three vertical dots) > More tools > Extensions. Toggle off the switch next to each extension to disable it. Then, re-enable them one by one to see if the problem persists.
- Mozilla Firefox: Go to Add-ons (three horizontal lines) > Extensions. Toggle off the switch next to each extension to disable it. Then, re-enable them one by one to see if the problem persists.
- Microsoft Edge: Go to Settings (three horizontal dots) > Extensions. Toggle off the switch next to each extension to disable it. Then, re-enable them one by one to see if the problem persists.
3. Website settings: Some websites might have a setting to open links in a new tab or window. Try checking the website's settings or preferences to see if there's an option to change this behavior.
4. Browser cache and cookies: Clearing your browser cache and cookies might help resolve the issue. Here's how:
- Google Chrome: Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete (Windows/Linux) or Command + Shift + Delete (Mac) to open the Chrome settings. Select "Clear browsing data" and choose the options you want to clear (e.g., "Cookies and other site data", "Cached images and files").
- Mozilla Firefox: Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete (Windows/Linux) or Command + Shift + Delete (Mac) to open the Firefox settings. Select "Clear your recent history" and choose the options you want to clear (e.g., "Cookies", "Cache").
- Microsoft Edge: Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete (Windows/Linux) or Command + Shift + Delete (Mac) to open the Edge settings. Select "Clear browsing data" and choose the options you want to clear (e.g., "Cookies and site data", "Cached data and files").
If none of these steps resolve the issue, you can try resetting your browser settings or seeking further assistance from the browser's support team.
