Emefiele kachikwu to appear before reps committee over alleged forex diversion

It seems like there's a developing story!

According to reports, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, and the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, are set to appear before the House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts to answer questions regarding alleged diversion of foreign exchange (forex) meant for the importation of petroleum products.

The committee, led by Hon. Wole Oke, is investigating allegations that the CBN and the Ministry of Petroleum Resources diverted a significant portion of the forex allocated for the importation of petroleum products, leading to a shortage of fuel in the country.

The committee has summoned Emefiele and Kachikwu to provide explanations and evidence regarding the alleged diversion, which is said to have occurred between 2015 and 2016.

This development comes at a time when the country is still grappling with fuel scarcity and long queues at fuel stations. The alleged diversion of forex has been linked to the scarcity, with many Nigerians calling for accountability and transparency in the management of public funds.

It will be interesting to see how Emefiele and Kachikwu respond to the allegations and what evidence they present to the committee. The public is eagerly waiting to see if they will be able to provide satisfactory explanations and if any action will be taken against them if found guilty.

What do you think about this development? Should Emefiele and Kachikwu be held accountable for the alleged diversion of forex?
