Elumelu foundation selects 1000 entrepreneurs for 2018 programme
I think you may be referring to the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF), not the "Elumelu Foundation". The Tony Elumelu Foundation is a philanthropic organization founded by Tony Elumelu, the Chairman of United Bank for Africa (UBA) and Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (Transcorp).
According to the Tony Elumelu Foundation's website, in 2018, they selected 1,000 entrepreneurs for their flagship entrepreneurship program, known as the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP). This program is a 10-year, $100 million commitment to support African entrepreneurs, with the goal of creating jobs, driving economic growth, and promoting entrepreneurship across Africa.
The 2018 cohort of entrepreneurs was selected from over 45,000 applications received from 52 African countries. The selected entrepreneurs received a range of benefits, including:
- A non-refundable seed capital of $5,000
- A 12-week online entrepreneurship training program
- Access to a network of mentors and industry experts
- Opportunities for networking and collaboration with other entrepreneurs and stakeholders
- Access to a range of business support services, including business development, marketing, and financial management
The Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme has been running annually since 2015, and has supported over 7,500 entrepreneurs across Africa.
