Elders to end 24 year old orimolusi chieftaincy dispute in ogun
A fascinating topic!
The Ogun State Government has indeed taken steps to resolve the 24-year-old chieftaincy dispute in Orimolusi, a community in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of the state.
According to reports, the dispute, which has been ongoing since 1998, was between two factions of the Orimolusi family, with each faction laying claim to the stool of the Orimolusi of Ipa, a traditional title.
To resolve the dispute, the Ogun State Government, in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, constituted a panel of elders to investigate the matter and recommend a solution.
The panel, which was headed by a retired High Court Judge, Justice Olabisi Ilogebe, was tasked with the responsibility of hearing the parties involved, examining the facts of the case, and making recommendations to the government on how to resolve the dispute.
After conducting a thorough investigation, the panel submitted its report to the government, which recommended the appointment of a new Orimolusi of Ipa, as well as the establishment of a new chieftaincy family council to manage the affairs of the community.
The Ogun State Government has since accepted the recommendations of the panel and has taken steps to implement them. The new Orimolusi of Ipa, Chief Olusegun Ogunleye, was inaugurated in a ceremony attended by top government officials, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders.
The resolution of the 24-year-old chieftaincy dispute is seen as a major step forward for the people of Orimolusi and the entire Abeokuta North Local Government Area, as it will help to promote peace, stability, and development in the community.
It's worth noting that the Ogun State Government has been making efforts to resolve chieftaincy disputes in various parts of the state, as part of its commitment to promoting peace, unity, and development in the state.
