Efcc says dasuki refused appear court
According to reports, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has accused former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki, of refusing to appear in court to face trial.
Dasuki is facing trial for alleged misappropriation of funds meant for arms procurement during his tenure as NSA. The EFCC has accused him of diverting the funds to personal use and other purposes.
The EFCC made this accusation in a statement issued on Tuesday, saying that Dasuki had been evading court appearances and had failed to comply with several court orders to appear before the court.
The statement read: "The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has expressed disappointment and frustration over the continued refusal of former National Security Adviser (NSA), Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd), to appear before the court to face trial.
"Despite several court orders and invitations, Dasuki has consistently failed to appear before the court, thereby frustrating the trial and denying the commission the opportunity to present its case against him.
"The commission is surprised that Dasuki, who is facing serious allegations of corruption and abuse of office, would choose to evade justice and disobey court orders. This is unacceptable and a clear indication of his lack of respect for the law and the judiciary."
The EFCC has called on Dasuki to comply with the court orders and appear before the court to face trial. The commission has also threatened to take further action if Dasuki continues to evade justice.
It is worth noting that Dasuki has denied any wrongdoing and has claimed that the charges against him are politically motivated. His lawyers have also argued that the trial is unfair and that the court lacks jurisdiction to hear the case.
The case is ongoing, and it remains to be seen how it will be resolved.
