The Ooni of Ife said that the education sector was a critical area that required urgent attention, adding that the state government must take concrete steps to address the challenges facing the sector.
He said, "We commend the government for setting up the Education Policy Review Committee. We urge the government to implement the recommendations made by the committee. The monarchs also urged the government to increase funding for education, improve the infrastructure in schools, and provide adequate training for teachers.
The Governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola, who was represented by his Deputy, Benedict Alabi, assured the monarchs that the government would implement the recommendations of the Education Policy Review Committee.
He said, "We appreciate the efforts of the Education Policy Review Committee. We will implement the recommendations made by the committee. We will increase funding for education, improve the infrastructure in schools, and provide adequate training for teachers."
The meeting was attended by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Oyebade Adeniran, the Head of Service, Dr. Oluwaseun Obasanya, and other top government officials.
