Deutronomy chapter 1 new living bible

Here is Deuteronomy chapter 1 in the New Living Translation (NLT):

Deuteronomy 1

Moses' Review of God's Great Works

1 These are the words Moses spoke to all the people of Israel, saying:

2 "I am 120 years old today. I am no longer able to lead you, and the Lord has said to me, 'You shall not cross the Jordan.'"

3 But the Lord your God will drive out these nations before you, and you will dispossess nations greater and stronger than you.

4 When you have crossed the Jordan, the Lord will drive out before you those nations living in the land, and you will take possession of their land. Then you will establish your settlements and plant your crops.

5 The Lord your God will also do to them what he has done to Sihon and Og, the kings of the Amorites, whom he destroyed.

6 The Lord will give them over to you, and you will do to them according to all the commands I have given you.

7 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

The Journey to Kadesh Barnea

8 So I commanded you at that time: 'The Lord your God has given you this land to take possession of it. But all your able-bodied men, who were fighting fit, must cross over ahead of your fellow Israelites, just as the Lord your God has blessed you.'

9 I gave you instructions at that time as follows: 'The Lord your God is about to give you this land. Cross over ahead of your fellow Israelites, all of you who are fighting fit. Help them, so they can drive out the inhabitants of the land, as the Lord said.'

10 I gave you also the following instructions at that time: 'One man out of every tribe of your Israelites must come and take up his position with his fellow tribesmen, the Levites.'

11 I commanded you at that time: 'The Lord your God is about to give you this land. Cross over ahead of your fellow Israelites, all of you who are fighting fit. Help them, so they can drive out the inhabitants of the land, as the Lord said.'

12 Then the Lord said to me, 'Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. For these people are not fighting against flesh and blood, but against the rulers and authorities of the darkness of this world, against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.'

13 So take courage! For the Lord your God is going with you. He will fight for you, as he has promised.
