Moses' Blessing on the Tribes

1 This is the blessing that Moses, the man of God, gave to the Israelites before he died. He called all the tribes together and said:

2 "The Lord came from Sinai and shone brightly from Seir. He appeared from Mount Paran and came from the hills of Zion. He shone with his mighty power and his holy splendor.

3 "He loved the people and gave them his laws. He sent his commands to Jacob and his teachings to Israel.

4 "He said, 'I will give you the land of Canaan, the land of your ancestors. You will take possession of it and live there.

5 "Moses continued, 'The Lord is a God who is full of love and kindness. He is slow to anger and is rich in love. He will not leave you or abandon you, but he will always be with you.

6 "So be strong and brave, my dear friends. Be careful to obey everything that Moses, the servant of the Lord, has commanded you. Do not deviate from it, either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in all you do.

7 "Moses also said to the tribe of Levi:

8 "Your brothers, the Israelites, will bring sacrifices to the Lord, and you, Levi, will stand before them. You will be their helpers, and you will bless them in the name of the Lord. They will come to you for guidance, and you will teach them the laws of the Lord.

9 "Moses continued, 'This is the blessing that Moses, the man of God, gave to the tribe of Judah. 'May the Lord be your guide, Judah, and may you be his helper. May your hand be with your enemies, and may all your enemies be defeated.

10 "Moses also gave this blessing to the tribe of Levi:

11 "May the Lord be with Levi, and may he be their helper. May they be his helpers, and may they be with him. May they be his helpers, and may they be with him.

12 "Moses gave this blessing to the tribe of Benjamin:

13 "May the Lord be with Benjamin, and may he be their helper. May they be his helpers, and may they be with him.

14 "Moses gave this blessing to the tribe of Joseph:

15 "May the Lord be with Joseph, and may he be their helper. May they be his helpers, and may they be with him.

16 "Moses gave this blessing to the tribe of Zebulun:

17 "May the Lord be with Zebulun, and may he be their helper. May they be his helpers, and may they be with him.

18 "Moses gave this blessing to the tribe of Issachar:

19 "May the Lord be with Issachar, and may he be their helper. May they be his helpers, and may they be with him.

20 "Moses gave this blessing to the tribe of Dan:

21 "May the Lord be with Dan, and may he be their helper. May they be his helpers, and may they be with him.

22 "Moses gave this blessing to the tribe of Gad:

23 "May the Lord be with Gad, and may he be their helper. May they be his helpers, and may they be with him.

24 "Moses gave this blessing to the tribe of Asher:

25 "May the Lord be with Asher, and may he be their helper. May they be his helpers, and may they be with him.

26 "Moses gave this blessing to the tribe of Naphtali:

27 "May the Lord be with Naphtali, and may he be their helper. May they be his helpers, and may they be with him.

28 "Moses gave this blessing to the tribe of Manasseh:

29 "May the Lord be with Manasseh, and may he be their helper. May they be his helpers, and may they be with him.

30 "Moses gave this blessing to the tribe of Ephraim:

31 "May the Lord be with Ephraim, and may he be their helper. May they be his helpers, and may they be with him.

32 "Moses gave this blessing to the tribe of Benjamin:

33 "May the Lord be with Benjamin, and may he be their helper. May they be his helpers, and may they be with him.

34 "Moses finished speaking these words to all the Israelites, and he blessed them. Then he went up to the top of Mount Nebo, where God showed him the land of Canaan.

35 "The Lord showed Moses the whole land, from Gilead to Dan, and all the land of Naphtali, the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Mediterranean Sea.

36 "Moses, the man of God, died there in the land of Moab, at the age of 120. No one knows where he was buried.

37 "Moses was 120 years old when he died, but his eyes were still strong and his spirit was still active.
