Detectives Nab Producer of Adulterated Alcoholic Drink in Lagos

Lagos, Nigeria - In a major crackdown on counterfeiters, detectives from the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a producer of adulterated alcoholic drink in the state.

The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Olamide Ogunleye, was apprehended at his factory located in the Mushin area of Lagos, where he was found producing and packaging a fake brand of whiskey.

According to the police, Ogunleye's adulterated drink was laced with harmful chemicals, including methanol, which can cause serious health problems, including blindness, kidney damage, and even death.

The police received a tip-off about the suspect's activities and launched an investigation, which led them to his factory. Upon searching the premises, they found several drums of the adulterated drink, as well as equipment used for packaging and labeling.

Ogunleye was arrested and taken into custody, where he is currently being questioned by detectives. The police have also seized the adulterated drink and equipment used in its production.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has commended the detectives for their efforts in cracking down on counterfeiters and ensuring the safety of the public.

"We will not tolerate any form of adulteration or counterfeiting in Lagos State," Odumosu said. "We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our citizens are protected from harmful products and substances."

The police have warned consumers to be vigilant and avoid purchasing any form of adulterated drink, as it can have serious consequences for their health.

In related news, the Lagos State Government has announced plans to launch a campaign to educate the public about the dangers of adulterated drinks and the importance of consuming only genuine products.

The campaign, which is expected to kick off soon, will feature public awareness messages, educational materials, and community outreach programs to reach a wider audience.

In the meantime, the police have urged anyone with information about counterfeiters or adulterated drinks to report to the nearest police station or contact the Lagos State Police Command's hotline.
