Deputy superintendent of prisons arrested for armed robbery in enugu

A shocking development!

According to reports, a Deputy Superintendent of Prisons, one Mr. Chukwuemeka Nwosu, has been arrested by the Enugu State Police Command for allegedly committing an armed robbery.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at about 9:30 pm, when Nwosu, who is attached to the Enugu Maximum Prison, allegedly robbed a commercial bank in the state.

The police said that Nwosu, who was armed with a gun, stormed the bank and demanded that the cashiers hand over the day's proceeds. He allegedly made away with an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the scene.

The police, who were alerted to the robbery, launched a manhunt for the suspect and eventually arrested him at his residence in the early hours of Wednesday, March 15, 2023.

The Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the arrest, saying that Nwosu has been taken into custody and is being investigated for the alleged crime.

This is a shocking development, as it is unusual for a law enforcement officer to be involved in such a serious crime. The police are expected to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the robbery and to ensure that justice is served.

It is also a reminder that corruption and criminality can occur at all levels, even among those who are sworn to uphold the law.
