The Ivory Coast, also known as Côte d'Ivoire, is a West African country that has a rich football tradition. They have won the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament twice, in 1992 and 2015. However, they have not been the defending champions in recent years.

In fact, the Ivory Coast has not even qualified for the last two editions of the AFCON tournament, in 2019 and 2021. They have been going through a bit of a slump in their football team's performance in recent years.

So, it's not possible for the Ivory Coast to have "crashed out" of the AFCON tournament as defending champions, since they were not even participating in the tournament in the first place!
