Creating a new color swatch in indesign
In Adobe InDesign, you can create a new color swatch by following these steps:
Method 1: Using the Swatches Panel
- Open your InDesign document and go to the Window menu, then select Color to open the Swatches panel.
- Click on the New Color Swatch button at the bottom of the panel, or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+K (Windows) or Command+Shift+K (Mac).
- In the New Color Swatch dialog box, enter a name for your new color swatch in the Name field.
- Choose a color model from the Color Model dropdown menu (e.g., RGB, CMYK, or Lab).
- Enter the color values in the corresponding fields (e.g., Red, Green, and Blue for RGB).
- Click OK to create the new color swatch.
Method 2: Using the Color Picker
- Select the object or text you want to apply the new color to.
- Go to the Type or Object tool, depending on the object you selected.
- Click on the Color dropdown menu in the Control panel or the Properties panel.
- Click on the Color Picker button (looks like a small color wheel).
- In the Color Picker dialog box, select a color model from the Color Model dropdown menu (e.g., RGB, CMYK, or Lab).
- Enter the color values in the corresponding fields (e.g., Red, Green, and Blue for RGB).
- Click OK to create a new color swatch and apply it to the selected object.
Tips:
- You can also create a new color swatch by dragging a color from the Color Picker dialog box to the Swatches panel.
- To edit an existing color swatch, select it in the Swatches panel and click on the Edit button (looks like a small pencil).
- You can also import color swatches from other applications, such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, by using the Import button in the Swatches panel.
