Create a new heart in me sermon

Here's a sermon on creating a new heart in me:

Title: "A New Heart, A New Me"

Text: Ezekiel 36:26-27, Jeremiah 31:31-34, Psalm 51:10-12

Introduction:

Have you ever felt like you're stuck in a rut, like your heart is hardened and you can't seem to change? Maybe you've tried to change on your own, but it feels like nothing is working. Maybe you've felt like you're just going through the motions of life, without any sense of purpose or passion. Today, I want to talk to you about the possibility of creating a new heart in you.

The Problem:

In Ezekiel 36:26-27, God says, "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh." This is a promise that God makes to His people, but it's not just for ancient Israelites. It's for us today. We all have hearts that are prone to hardening, to becoming stone-like. We all have hearts that are capable of being changed, of being transformed.

The Solution:

But how do we get a new heart? How do we change from being a stone-hearted person to being a flesh-hearted person? The answer is found in Jeremiah 31:31-34. God says, "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people." This is a promise of a new covenant, a new relationship between God and His people. And the key to this new relationship is a new heart.

The Process:

So, how do we get this new heart? It's not something we can do on our own. It's not something we can achieve through our own efforts. It's something that requires God's intervention. Psalm 51:10-12 says, "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit."

The Result:

So, what does it look like to have a new heart? It looks like a heart that is soft and pliable, a heart that is open to God's guidance and direction. It looks like a heart that is passionate and compassionate, a heart that is willing to serve and love others. It looks like a heart that is at peace, a heart that is filled with joy and gratitude.

Conclusion:

Creating a new heart in me is not just a possibility, it's a promise. It's a promise that God makes to us, and it's a promise that we can experience in our lives. But it requires us to be willing to surrender our old hearts, to let go of our stone-heartedness and to receive a new heart from God. It requires us to be willing to trust in God's goodness and His love for us. And it requires us to be willing to follow Him, to obey His commands and to seek His guidance.

So, I want to leave you with a question today. Are you willing to create a new heart in you? Are you willing to surrender your old heart and to receive a new one from God? If so, I encourage you to pray with me right now. "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me."
