Coronavirus rwanda top flight to be played behind closed doors

According to recent reports, the Rwandan Premier League, the top flight of football in Rwanda, will be played behind closed doors due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The decision was made by the Rwandan Football Federation (FERWAFOOT) in consultation with the Ministry of Sports and Culture, and is aimed at preventing the spread of the virus and ensuring the safety of players, officials, and spectators.

The league is scheduled to kick off on March 27, and will feature 12 teams competing for the championship title. The matches will be played without spectators in attendance, and strict health and safety protocols will be in place to minimize the risk of transmission.

This decision is in line with the global trend of sports events being played behind closed doors or postponed due to the pandemic. Many countries have taken similar measures to prevent the spread of the virus, and Rwanda is no exception.

It's worth noting that the Rwandan Premier League has been suspended since March 2020 due to the pandemic, and this decision marks a significant step towards the league's resumption.
