Coronavirus lagos state shuts public private schools

According to reports, the Lagos State Government has announced the closure of all public and private schools in the state due to the rising cases of COVID-19.

The decision was made after a meeting between the state government and stakeholders in the education sector. The closure is effective from Monday, March 23, 2020, and will last for four weeks.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folashade Adefisayo, made the announcement in a statement, saying that the decision was taken to prevent the spread of the virus.

The statement read in part:

"In line with the Lagos State Government's efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19, all public and private schools in the state will be closed for a period of four weeks, effective from Monday, March 23, 2020.

"This decision was taken after a meeting with stakeholders in the education sector, and it is aimed at preventing the spread of the virus and ensuring the safety of our students, teachers, and the general public.

"We urge all parents and guardians to ensure that their children and wards are kept at home during this period and to follow all guidelines and protocols issued by the government to prevent the spread of the virus."

The closure is expected to affect over 2 million students in public and private schools across the state.

It's worth noting that the Lagos State Government has also taken other measures to contain the spread of the virus, including the closure of markets, worship centers, and other public places.
