Coronavirus battle 16 million italians quarantined
I think there may be some misinformation here.
As of March 2020, Italy has indeed been severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, but the number of Italians quarantined is not 16 million.
According to official reports, as of March 13, 2020, Italy had reported over 15,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with over 1,000 deaths. In response to the outbreak, the Italian government implemented a series of measures to slow the spread of the virus, including:
- Lockdowns: The entire Lombardy region, which is the most populous region in Italy, was placed under lockdown on March 8, 2020. This meant that people were not allowed to leave their homes except for essential reasons, such as buying food or medicine.
- Travel restrictions: Travel to and from Lombardy was restricted, and many cities and towns in Italy were placed under quarantine.
- Social distancing measures: The government encouraged people to maintain a distance of at least 1 meter (3.3 feet) from each other, and many public gatherings and events were cancelled.
While these measures have been in place, the number of Italians quarantined is not 16 million. According to reports, around 60,000 people were initially placed under quarantine in Lombardy, and later, around 150,000 people were placed under quarantine in other regions of Italy.
It's worth noting that the Italian government has been working closely with the World Health Organization (WHO) and other international health authorities to respond to the pandemic, and has implemented a range of measures to slow the spread of the virus and protect public health.
