Copy sms from old phone to new phone

The joys of switching phones! Copying SMS (text messages) from an old phone to a new one can be a bit of a challenge, but don't worry, I've got you covered. Here are the steps to follow:

Method 1: Using a Backup Service

  1. Backup your old phone: Go to your old phone's settings and look for the "Backup & reset" or "Backup" option. Enable the backup feature and select the type of data you want to backup, including SMS.
  2. Choose a backup service: Select a backup service like Google Drive, iCloud, or a third-party app like SMS Backup & Restore or Helium Backup.
  3. Backup your SMS: The backup service will create a backup of your SMS, including the messages, contacts, and other data.
  4. Restore on new phone: On your new phone, go to the same backup service and restore the backup. This will transfer your SMS to your new phone.

Method 2: Using a USB Cable and Computer

  1. Connect your old phone to your computer: Use a USB cable to connect your old phone to your computer.
  2. Transfer SMS using a file manager: Use a file manager like ES File Explorer or File Manager to access your old phone's internal storage.
  3. Find the SMS database: Look for the "SMS" or "Messages" folder and copy the database file (usually named "msgstore.db" or "mms.db").
  4. Transfer the file to your new phone: Copy the file to your new phone using a USB cable or wirelessly using a file transfer app.
  5. Install a SMS app on your new phone: Install a SMS app like Handcent Next SMS or GO SMS Pro on your new phone.
  6. Import the SMS database: Open the SMS app on your new phone and import the SMS database file you transferred earlier.

Method 3: Using a Cloud-Based SMS App

  1. Use a cloud-based SMS app: Install a cloud-based SMS app like MightyText or SMS Backup & Restore on both your old and new phones.
  2. Sync your SMS: Enable syncing on both phones, and the app will automatically transfer your SMS to the cloud.
  3. Access your SMS on your new phone: Open the app on your new phone and access your SMS from the cloud.

Remember to always backup your important data, including SMS, to prevent loss in case your phone is lost, stolen, or damaged.
