Computer opens new window everytime i click

That's frustrating! There are a few possible reasons why your computer might be opening a new window every time you click something. Let's troubleshoot together to try to figure out what's going on.

Possible causes:

  1. Malware or virus: Malware or viruses can cause unexpected behavior, including opening new windows. Run a full scan with your antivirus software to check for any infections.
  2. Browser settings: Your browser's settings might be configured to open new windows automatically. Check your browser's settings to see if this is the case.
  3. Add-ons or extensions: Some add-ons or extensions might be causing the issue. Try disabling them one by one to see if the problem persists.
  4. System settings: Windows settings or registry entries might be causing the issue. We can try to troubleshoot these as well.

Steps to troubleshoot:

  1. Check your browser settings:
    • For Chrome: Go to Settings > Advanced > System > Open a specific page or set of pages. Make sure the "Open a specific page or set of pages" option is not enabled.
    • For Firefox: Go to Options > General > Startup. Make sure the "Open a specific page or set of pages" option is not enabled.
  2. Disable add-ons or extensions:
    • For Chrome: Go to Settings > More tools > Extensions. Disable all extensions one by one to see if the problem persists.
    • For Firefox: Go to Options > Add-ons > Extensions. Disable all extensions one by one to see if the problem persists.
  3. Run a system file checker:
    • For Windows 10: Press the Windows key + R, type sfc /scannow, and press Enter.
    • For Windows 7: Press the Windows key + R, type sfc /scannow, and press Enter.
  4. Check for Windows updates:
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update. Check for any available updates and install them.
  5. Reset browser settings:
    • For Chrome: Go to Settings > Advanced > Reset and clean up Google Chrome. Click "Reset" to restore default settings.
    • For Firefox: Go to Options > General > Reset. Click "Reset" to restore default settings.

Additional steps:

  1. Check for conflicts with other software: If you've recently installed new software, try uninstalling it to see if the problem persists.
  2. Run a registry cleaner: Malware or viruses can cause registry issues, which might be causing the problem. Run a registry cleaner like CCleaner to see if it resolves the issue.
  3. Reinstall your browser: If none of the above steps work, you might need to reinstall your browser.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, please provide more details about your computer, browser, and operating system, and I'll do my best to help you troubleshoot further!
