City lodge hotel group launches coronavirus protocol

City Lodge Hotel Group, a leading hotel chain in South Africa, has launched a comprehensive Coronavirus (COVID-19) protocol to ensure the safety and well-being of its guests, employees, and the wider community.

The protocol, which is in line with the guidelines set by the World Health Organization (WHO), the South African National Department of Health, and the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), aims to minimize the risk of transmission of the virus within the hotel's premises.

Some of the key measures included in the protocol are:

  1. Enhanced Cleaning and Disinfection: The hotel has increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfection of all public areas, including lobbies, corridors, rooms, and bathrooms, using hospital-grade disinfectants.
  2. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): All hotel staff, including housekeeping, food and beverage, and front desk personnel, will wear PPE, including masks, gloves, and eye protection, when interacting with guests or handling guest belongings.
  3. Social Distancing: The hotel has implemented social distancing measures, including reducing the number of guests allowed in public areas, increasing the distance between seating areas, and limiting the number of people allowed in elevators.
  4. Temperature Screening: The hotel will conduct temperature screening for all guests and employees upon arrival, and anyone with a temperature above 37.5°C will be denied entry or asked to leave the premises.
  5. Contact Tracing: The hotel will maintain a record of all guests, employees, and visitors, including contact information, to facilitate contact tracing in the event of a positive COVID-19 case.
  6. Guest Screening: The hotel will screen all guests for COVID-19 symptoms upon check-in, and anyone showing symptoms will be asked to leave the premises or be isolated in a designated area.
  7. Food and Beverage: The hotel has implemented measures to minimize the risk of transmission through food and beverage service, including increased cleaning and disinfection of food and beverage areas, and the use of disposable utensils and plates.
  8. Employee Training: All hotel employees have received training on COVID-19 protocols, including infection prevention and control, and are equipped to respond to any COVID-19-related incidents.
  9. Guest Communication: The hotel will communicate with guests regularly to keep them informed of any COVID-19-related updates, protocols, and procedures.
  10. Continuous Monitoring: The hotel will continuously monitor the situation and update its protocols as necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of its guests, employees, and the wider community.

By implementing this comprehensive protocol, City Lodge Hotel Group aims to provide a safe and comfortable environment for its guests and employees, while also contributing to the efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19.
