Chrome always open random adverts in new tab

That's frustrating! Chrome can sometimes open unwanted tabs or windows, including ads. Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue:

  1. Check your extensions: Malicious or unwanted extensions can cause Chrome to open unwanted tabs. Go to Chrome settings (three vertical dots in the upper right corner) > More tools > Extensions. Review the list of installed extensions and remove any suspicious or unwanted ones.
  2. Disable third-party extensions: Some extensions might be causing the issue. Try disabling all third-party extensions and see if the problem persists. If it doesn't, you can re-enable them one by one to identify the culprit.
  3. Clear browsing data: Clearing your browsing data, including cookies, site data, and cached images, might help resolve the issue. Go to Chrome settings > Privacy and security > Clear browsing data.
  4. Reset Chrome settings: Resetting Chrome settings can also help. Go to Chrome settings > Advanced > Reset and clean up Google Chrome. This will reset your homepage, default search engine, and other settings to their default values.
  5. Check for malware: Malware can cause Chrome to behave erratically. Run a full scan with your antivirus software to ensure your system is free from malware.
  6. Disable pop-ups: Pop-ups can sometimes cause unwanted tabs to open. Go to Chrome settings > Site settings > Pop-ups and redirects. Disable pop-ups and redirects for specific sites or all sites.
  7. Use the Chrome Task Manager: The Chrome Task Manager can help you identify which tabs or extensions are consuming resources and potentially causing the issue. Press Shift + Esc to open the Chrome Task Manager.
  8. Update Chrome: Ensure you're running the latest version of Chrome. Go to Chrome settings > Help > About Google Chrome.
  9. Reset Chrome to its default settings: If none of the above steps work, you can try resetting Chrome to its default settings. This will remove all extensions, bookmarks, and other data, so be sure to back up your important data before doing so. Go to Chrome settings > Advanced > Reset and clean up Google Chrome.
  10. Consider using a different browser: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you might want to consider using a different browser, such as Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge.
